Caritas Egypt is following several methodologies to achieve its strategic objectives; these will be followed during the implementation of programs, projects, activities, interventions, and daily operating practices, considering internal and external environmental conditions.

Regarding Caritas Egypt 2027 strategic methodologies, Caritas will adopt several methods to achieve the overall strategic objective during the five-year plan. Caritas will be working through cross-cutting procedures to ensure the achievement of the professional development for employees working in various programs and projects, especially with regards to training and capacity building of employees and volunteers, taking into consideration the environmental orientation/changes when implementing different programs and interventions, ensuring the participation of various community groups, stakeholders parallel with building partnerships with official entities such as ministries, councils in addition to other grassroots organizations and targeted communities. 

Caritas Egypt will adopt programmatic and development interventions that ensure the strengthening of safeguarding and protection policies for all target groups, focusing on the most vulnerable and poor, especially children and women, taking into consideration gender equality and providing Relief, aid, and rapid response services in emergencies, through adopting volunteering methodology that ensures the direct participation of young people available in targeted urban and rural communities, ensuring their contribution in different developmental efforts that Caritas intends to achieve with regards to the strategic objectives.

  1. Training and Capacity Building

Throughout the extended history of Caritas Egypt in serving the Egyptian community, employees have settled a successful model to improve the lives of individuals in the targeted communities.

However, the rapid expansion in the developmental field has become a challenge for Caritas’ employees to keep pace with the new concepts and mechanisms of development and civil work in Egypt, which will not happen without engaging in building an institutional learning culture that is not based only on the acquisition of professional knowledge with others, but also based on training and capacity building programs for employees and volunteers to build a scientific, cognitive and cultural identity that allows Caritas team to accept the variables and needs of development work in a way that is compatible with its mission, as a more influential and active party in deciding working mechanisms, designing and implementing humanitarian initiatives not only a receptive and passive party. Hence, the approach to building and developing the capabilities of Caritas’ Egypt employees and volunteers in the coming years will provide institutional learning opportunities based on exchanging and sharing experiences among employees and openness to opportunities that offer professional and cognitive growth for the association’s employees and volunteers.

  1. Promoting Safeguarding Policies and Practices

Caritas Egypt employees and volunteers are committed to following a strict approach to ensuring the safeguarding and protection of the rights and dignity of everyone, especially children.

Thus, Caritas Egypt is focusing, and strictly taking into consideration, in the next five years on strengthening programs and institutional methodologies ensuring in-depth training and capacity building for all employees, volunteers, partners, stakeholders, vendors, etc. on Safeguarding practices starting from raising awareness to reporting mechanisms, to protect the rights and dignity of every person, parallel with strengthening internal review, evaluation and follow-up systems at all executive and procedural levels to ensure that protection policies and practices are followed when planning, implementing and evaluating various activities and interventions with all beneficiaries, workers, and partners.

  1. Gender Equity

Caritas Egypt adopts various mechanisms to ensure the effective participation of girls and women in the different stages, starting from the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating programs, projects, and interventions, in a way that guarantees to enhance their effective presence in leading Caritas Egypt’s various work programs and projects and ensuring the empowerment of girls and women, by improving community awareness of their value and worth in the surrounding community and their influential role and participation in achieving targeted developmental goals, additionally advocating to respecting women rights, appreciating their effective contribution in the society and avoiding various forms of abuse, violence, exploitation and marginalization.

  1. Environmental Orientation

Facing climate and environmental threats from the extreme global warming phenomena has resulted in changes affecting the quality and quantity of agricultural crop productivity, which is reflected in food supply chains and availability.

In addition to the international and local effort to enhance the capabilities of local communities to adapt to climate change and respond to disasters and crises, Caritas Egypt is focusing on Environmental preservation should become a priority and core in all of its strategic directions and activities, this will be achieved through cross-cutting interventions to educate the target communities about the challenging consequences of climate change and its adverse effects on the reality and future of life. In addition to promoting daily practices aiming to adapt to climate change in the country through adopting more rational consumption patterns for environmental resources, especially water and food, and reducing the causes of pollution and personal and public waste.

Moreover, Caritas is building and developing the capabilities of employees concerning the wise use of the available resources in addition to promoting the inclusion of the environmental orientation in various projects’ proposals, following the values, ethics, and practices of the ethical and social environmental approach that His Holiness Pope Francis focused on in his encyclical “Laudato Si,” in addition to following Caritas International Management Standards regarding environmentally friendly practices in various offices and work sites and daily operations.

  1. Community Participation

Caritas Egypt is targeting equal opportunities for community members to engage and work together to achieve community awareness and empowerment for individuals and groups, especially the most marginalized.

Hence, Caritas Egypt follows a community participation approach that ensures that all interventions, programs, and services include the participation of various governmental and nongovernmental stakeholders in planning, supervision, follow-up, implementation, and evaluation activities related to work programs and projects.

This provides an opportunity for the voiceless to express themselves and contribute to efforts to develop and change their conditions and the conditions of the communities in which they live.

  1. Networking and Partnerships

Connecting to the community participation approach, Caritas Egypt targets various goals and strategic directions at the level of promoting and strengthening its partnerships with various official entities, government, and nongovernmental. Moreover, these partnerships will be extended to multiple active parties in the development field locally and internationally, with the main aim of supporting the rights of various groups targeted in Caritas programs and interventions during the next five years.

  1. Relief, Rapid Response and Humanitarian Aids

Through its relief methodology, Caritas Egypt seeks to strengthen its community presence in all its strategic objectives with various target groups by meeting the urgent and more urgent needs of the poor and marginalized families and individuals or those suffering from emergencies due to natural disasters or conditions.

Caritas aims to build the capacities of volunteers in various local communities, improving their capabilities and acquiring cooperation and networking capacities to respond to the community’s rapid needs in emergencies and enhancing their solidarity efforts. 

  1. Advocacy and Lobbying

Caritas Egypt’s advocacy and lobbying methodology, as clearly evident in the mission and strategic objectives, focuses on raising community awareness concerning the rights of various target groups, especially the poor and marginalized who suffer from different forms of stigma and discrimination.

Caritas Egypt is targeting to build mechanisms and work interventions that support advocacy and lobbying, based on monitoring and analyzing the several contexts related to the problems and risks faced by the various target groups, grounded by clear evidence and with the participation of the targets themselves in the multiple stages of design, implementation, and evaluation of advocacy initiatives and activities at the various local and national levels.
