When my daughter asked me to help her with her homework, it made me sad that I couldn’t help her. I used to just guess sometimes to help her. Now that I participated in the Caritas literacy classes, I can help her. I recently entered in a spelling competition in Cairo and I won! With the prize money, I set up a literacy project back in my village. And I now have enough money to pay the school fees of my children.
Stories help us make sense of the world around us. For Caritas Egypt, stories of the people that participate in the programmes help make sense of the change Caritas Egypt is creating for vulnerable people and fragile communities around the world. That is why Caritas Egypt is using Sprockler to gather these stories. Sprockler is a research tool that collects stories as well as data, to be able to learn about what is happening. In this way Caritas Egypt can evaluate their projects and make better decisions that lead to even better ways of empowering people.
The stories and answers gathered by Sprockler are presented on a website, accessible for all. Read more stories and check out the answers here: http://www.sprockler.com/Caritas/index.php
During the last presidential elections, some men came up to me and told me “Here is some money and I will vote for you”. But this time because of the classes with Caritas Egypt, I could read the ballot so I told them I would vote myself. This made me feel so proud.
